Hawaii's Laws Failed to Prevent Child Trafficker Because of Lenient State Penalties

Honolulu Child Sex Trafficker Rodney D. King (indicted federally for sex-trafficking of adults and children in Honolulu) could have been prevented in 1999 if Hawaii's existing laws we're adequate. http://bit.ly/OMAWs

But, no. He pled guilty and was given 30 months in prison and 3 years supervised release...WITH OUR CURRENT LAWS!!!

This just goes to illustrate clearly the need for a state Human Trafficking Law. Thinking that current laws already address this growing crime is obviously contributing to the proliferation of Sex-Trafficking, especially of minors.

Hawaii remains 1 of 8 states that has not passed a Human Trafficking state statute.

And, by the way, as for the Hawaii Anti Trafficking Task Force pursuant to Act 260, Prosecuting Attorney Peter Carlisle has NEVER attended these meetings. Only some spokesperson who doesn't have a law degree.

Mitchell faces living out the rest of this life where he belongs: in prison. If found guilty he may be sentenced to 30 years. Unfortunately, the 12 year old survivor of this pathetic old man will have to live with the memory of Mitchell's perverted and inhumane acts for the rest of her life. 30 years for Mitchell is leniency.
